ACAD Research Symposium

November 15, 2011

November 17, 2011 | Panelist, What is Creative Research? (We know we do it but how do we articulate it?) from 6:00 to 9:00pm in the Stanford Perrot Lecture Theatre

ACAD presents the first in a series of faculty creative research focused events. The goal is to increase research capacity in all areas of the college and to have faculty rethink issues and investigative approaches related creative research in a studio-based program.

The November 17th event is entitled Creative Research: What is Creative Research? (We know we do it but how do we articulate it?).  A position panel will present and discuss ideas on creative research closely associated with ACAD’s studio-based programs.  The panelists are asked to briefly introduce their own research initiatives and then highlight research activity in their area as well as any unique or conceptually groundbreaking research within the departmental areas of design, fine arts and/or craft.  The discussion aims to find ways to elevate the level of critique in areas of craft, design and fine art at ACAD.  Invited ACAD faculty include Tanya Rusnak (Fine Art), Mackenzie Frère (Craft), and Jeff Lennard (Visual Communication Design), as well as Nancy Tousley, ACAD Critic-in- Residence for 2011-12.  The panel moderator is John Calvelli (Liberal Studies).
